Having survived the original prognosis of 5 years, when she noticed the same 'sensation' beginning in her right arm, she decided that she was not prepared to become physically useless. She willed herself to die. Sounds strange I know, but the week before she died she made me promise her that I would not allow any attempt to prolong her life - which I honoured (she had also told her GP and hospital consultants the same). This is reinforced by my godmother (Nancy's best friend) telling me at mother's wake, that the week prior to her death, Nancy had 'phoned her to say her good-byes. Nancy Andrews death certificate
